Introduction of Basel Tour Info

Greeted by our tour guide in the historical center of Basel, you will be briefed on the history’s origins, and your guide will take you on foot through the city. Stroll through one of Switzerland’s oldest university cities and marvel at the beauty produced by architects with far fewer tools than are available today. You’ll be able to experience the wonders of the Munster Rathaus, Tinguely Fountains, and Kunstmuseum.

Walking through Basel, you can visit the University of Basel, the oldest university in Switzerland, with a truly striking and scenic campus. The campus has a deep history as Switzerland’s universities served as a political haven where famed intellectuals like Nietzche, Karl Jaspers, and Basler Müntser could find refuge. The city is an amalgam of impressive Roman, Gothic, and contemporary-era architecture styles, so prepare to be awestruck throughout your tour. You’ll even have the chance to learn about the Celtic origins of Basel and the architecture of the city dating back to 1000 BC.

For those interested in fine art and historical art, the Kuntsmuseum will be a stimulating and vitalizing attraction, reinvigorating your creative interests. And, at the Georgturm and Martinsturm, you can climb 240 steps to view the city in its glory, along with an impeccable view of the Black Forest and Jura Mountains. Throughout your tour, you’ll receive guidance on transport, the main attractions, and the best restaurants to experience Basel’s culinary offerings and try Swiss delicacies like fondue and rosti (which you might refer to as hash browns!).
